NewsAs a new school year has begun, it is exciting to once again take part in this unique opportunity to share my knowledge of residential construction with participating students. Students enrolled in the Northern Tier Building Trades Project will this year take part in the renovation of a 1200 square foot home located at 1115 Mt. Morris St. This house was donated by Miles T. Martin Funeral Home. As with past projects, each student will take an active role in each phase of renovation. Students will learn valuable skills and building trades knowledge. With a national shortage of skilled workers, graduating seniors will find many job opportunities in which to apply these skills and knowledge as they seek employment within this field. Many of our former students have gone on to find successful careers within the trades profession. Numerous students have obtained apprenticeships within the electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry skilled trades workforce. One former student is the mid-western district manager of a large national construction company. Please stop by our job sight and observe our students as they take part in the unique opportunity. You will be impressed with the pride and enthusiasm that these hard working students put into this project. |
