About Technology in our Classroom...

This vocational-technical education course is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the field of the skilled trades worker. As technical, economic, and societal changes have reshaped the employment structure, the increasing demand for highly skilled workers has required schools to shift their training process. An advanced form of technological training is now required. This shift has caused the educational process to become highly structured in the use of technology. In an attempt to provide students with skills necessary to remain employable in this field, many new fields of study, such as computer assisted design, have been added to the curriculum. Changing technologies have created new careers that can only be filled by a talented and knowledgable workforce.

Exploring Technology...

Even though we use CAD there are many other related programs available to assist our students. I encourage them to search out web sites and activities. One site I recommend is www.discoveryschool.com. Click on "technology" and search for "Reaching New Heights". This is an interesting web site. It explores how technological advances have made it possible to build taller and taller buildings over time (http://school.discovery.com).
