S.K.I.P to a Great Start

The SKIP Program is a developmental support for all families with children 0-5 years of age. Families select the services of the program they wish to participate in. The program has something to offer to every family with a child.

Tot Times/Playgroups

• meet with other families with preschoolers your area
• children play with others and spend quality time with you
• talk to other parents who have the same concerns
• fun messy activities that you don't have to clean up
  • Wednesdays 10-11:30 and 1-2:30
  • Fridays 10-11:30 and 1-2:30

Group Meetings

• presenters will cover almost any parenting/ developmental topic
• topics recommended by parents
• child care will be provided by the SKIP staff
• receive and give support to other parents who have the same challenges as you

Screenings

• Vision:
  • 6 months-3 years: The Lions Club conduct screenings with MTI Photo Vision Screener to detect vision problems
  • 3-5 years of age: Genesee County Health Dept. and SKIP Healthcare liasisons conduct the screenings
• Hearing:
  • conducted by the Genesee County Health Dept. and the SKIP Health care liaisons
• Dental:
  • conducted by a dental hygienist along with Mott Children's Health Center
• Developmental:
  • include the Denver II assessment, Early On screenings and Special Education evaluations.
