Special Education Services

 
Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools offers a variety of Special Education Programs and Services for students birth through age 26. Students qualify for special education support for a wide range of disabilities as defined by The Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education:
 
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Cognitive Impairment (CI)
  • Early Childhood Development Delay (ECDD)
  • Emotional Impairment (EI)
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Other Health Impairment (OHI)
  • Physical Impairment (PI)
  • Severe Multiple Impairment (SMI)
  • Specific Learning Disability A (SLD)
  • Speech and Language Impairment (SLI)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Visual Impairment (VI)
 
To service these students, the Special Education Department consists of a team of professionals including Special Education Teachers, Speech-Language Pathologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Paraeducators. Programs and Services are provided in accordance with each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) based on their individual needs and allows them to be taught alongside nondisabled peers to the maximum extent possible.
